Privacy Policy

Effective date: 15 September 2026

Introduction

1PCNT respects privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly. Where the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) apply, 1PCNT will comply with them. 1PCNT also uses those principles as a guide to its information-handling practices more broadly. This policy explains how 1PCNT collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information through this website and through its athlete-development, career-pathway and host-employer activities.

Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with 1PCNT, we may collect some or all of the following: names and preferred names; dates of birth; contact details — mobile, email, suburb, postcode and state; school name, year level and expected completion year; employment and education details, including current employer and role; rugby league club, playing position, goals and representative commitments; career and trade preferences, availability, and willingness to relocate; licence, transport and travel details; work history, licences, tickets and certificates held; resume or document status; and any other information you voluntarily provide in an enquiry, call or correspondence.

For players under 18, we may also collect parent or guardian name, contact details and consent.

For host-employer enquiries, we may collect business and contact details, ABN (if voluntarily provided), business locations, trades and qualifications the business can support, hosting capacity and timing, supervision arrangements, work arrangements and candidate requirements.

USI: The public career-pathway form asks only whether you have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) — it does not ask for the actual USI number. If a USI is later required for a specific purpose, 1PCNT will explain why and use an appropriate secure process rather than ordinary email or messaging.

If you voluntarily provide health, injury or other sensitive information, 1PCNT will handle it only where reasonably necessary and with your consent or as otherwise permitted by law.

How information is collected

1PCNT usually collects information directly from you through website forms, email, phone, WhatsApp or meetings. Where appropriate, information may be collected from a parent or guardian or an authorised representative. Occasionally, with your authority or where otherwise lawful, information may be received from MRAEL, a rugby league club or another person.

1PCNT will only collect information that is reasonably needed for its activities.

Why information is used

1PCNT uses personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and assess eligibility for the development programme
  • Provide athlete-development support and prepare career profiles
  • Understand a player's goals, location, readiness and availability
  • Arrange calls, meetings and follow-up
  • With your express authority, introduce or refer players or potential host employers to MRAEL for apprenticeship and traineeship pathway purposes
  • Administer relationships and maintain records
  • Improve the website and services
  • Protect safety and prevent misuse
  • Meet legal obligations
  • Send marketing communications where you have given consent or another lawful basis exists

If you do not provide required information, 1PCNT may not be able to respond to or progress your enquiry or referral.

Who information may be shared with

1PCNT may share personal information in the following circumstances:

  • MRAEL: With your express authority, relevant career-pathway information may be shared with MRAEL for apprenticeship and traineeship guidance, assessment, opportunity matching and recruitment steps. MRAEL is a separate organisation and handles information it receives under its own legal obligations and privacy practices.
  • Clubs and employers: 1PCNT will not give a player's personal information to a club, prospective employer or other external organisation for direct contact without first contacting the player (and parent or guardian where appropriate) and obtaining permission.
  • Service providers: Reasonable disclosures may be made to technology, website, email, cloud-storage and professional service providers that help operate 1PCNT, subject to appropriate handling arrangements.
  • Legal requirements: Disclosure may occur where required or authorised by law, to prevent or respond to a serious threat to safety, or with your further consent.

Children and young people

Privacy protections apply regardless of age. 1PCNT requires parent or guardian involvement and consent for website submissions and referrals concerning a player under 18. 1PCNT will also explain matters in clear language to the young person and consider their views and capacity.

Marketing

Marketing permission is optional, separate from pathway and referral authority, unticked by default on all forms, and is never a condition of submitting an enquiry. Marketing messages will identify 1PCNT and provide a simple unsubscribe method. Requests to unsubscribe will be honoured promptly and within the time required by Australian law.

To withdraw marketing consent at any time, email [email protected]. Withdrawing marketing consent does not stop service or pathway communications that you have requested.

Cookies and analytics

This website and its providers may use essential cookies and, depending on settings and consent, functional or analytics technologies to operate, secure and understand use of the site. You can use the website's cookie controls and your browser settings to manage cookies, although disabling essential cookies may affect site functionality.

Storage, security and retention

1PCNT takes reasonable administrative and technical steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. However, no internet system is completely secure.

Information is retained only as long as reasonably needed for the stated purposes, legal requirements and legitimate record-keeping, then securely deleted or de-identified where practicable. Suspected eligible data breaches will be addressed as required by applicable law.

Overseas processing

Some website, email, cloud or technology providers used by 1PCNT may process or store information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where those providers operate. 1PCNT will take the reasonable steps required by applicable law when using those providers. You can contact 1PCNT for current information about overseas processing.

Access, correction and privacy complaints

You may request access to or correction of your personal information, or ask a privacy question, by emailing [email protected]. 1PCNT will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity.

Privacy complaints should include enough information for 1PCNT to investigate. 1PCNT will acknowledge and respond reasonably. If the Privacy Act applies and you are dissatisfied after giving 1PCNT a reasonable opportunity to respond, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
